dresses that go a bit past her knee and have ornamented sashes
or collars. Or, she might wear knickers and a long-sleeved blouse
with poofy sleeves gathered tightly at the wrist. She usually
wears boots, which looks a little silly with a dress (but maybe
cute in a boyish way).

Longer physical description: Libby is a pretty woman, who's
often smiling, and generally looks determined. Her figure is slight
enough that she looks all right in a typical "flapper"
dress, but she's not skinny.
Character traits:
Powers and talents: Libby can send herself, or others, randomly
forward in time. They will be one place one moment, and find themselves
probably somewhere completely different, with no idea what transpired,
although they might have done things they (and no one else) even
knows about. However, Libby has little control over when these
people will be sent back, and no control over how far forward
in time the person will go. She also has a limited power to rewind
time a minute or two so the scene can be replayed, but it only
works when she's very angry or scared, and she doens't even know
she possesses this power, because whenever she goes backwards
in time, everyone involved (including herself) loses the memories
of what happened, and the event is replayed.

Elizabeth Williamson was born to a wealthy New York merchant family.
She was always more of a free spirit than her parents, though
in her early life she admittedly wished Coney Island was a more
elite area like it had been in the previous century. She always
liked the thrill rides, and more than once, she snuck out to Coney
Island for a day, unaccompanied. When Libby was 13, her parents
separated, and she lived with her mother. Libby was a bit disappointed
to spend so much time away from her father; he had been rather
busy throughout most her life, and hadn't seen her much, but once
in a while he would play with her, and do fun tricks. If he concentrated
really hard, he could make it look like he was holding a glowing
ball! It was there for Libby to touch, but if her father tried
to give it to her, it vanished in a flash of light and warmth.
Libby always tried to figure out how her father did his tricks,
but never could. Once Libby's parents separated, her father rarely
visited, though he made sure she was well taken care of.
Libby went through 11 grades of school and then attended college. While Libby was in school, she noticed that sometimes people around her would disappear for some amount of time. If she was walking with a friend, the girl might disappear for a few minutes or even hours, and then suddenly appear right at Libby's side, a bit confused, but in a place blocks from where she had disappeared. Libby, too, would occasionally just suddenly find herself someplace very different from where she had been previously, with no explanation, even though hours had gone by. Libby cautiously asked her mother about that, and she took her daughter to a psychiatrist, who couldn't explain. Libby's mother was afraid to have Libby put in an asylum, so she told her daughter to say nothing about these supposed "disappearances," and she didn't, and took to telling her friends that they had passed out when they came back from their having vanished.
When Libby was 19 her father died, leaving much of his fortune to Libby. Libby spent a good deal of the money hosting parties and drinking, although what she had invested in the stock market made up for a lot of what she spent, and she always kept enough to take care of her mother. Several years later, Libby decided to "settle down," though she couldn't decide what she'd do with her life. One day she was at a small get-together in the summer, and the next thing she knew, it was nighttime, and she was on a subway train, which finally stopped at Coney Island. Libby got out of the train, puzzled, and walked down to the crowded boardwalk. Suddenly an inspiration hit her. She remembered reading H.G. Wells' The Time Machine when assigned a project in school to write an essay on things which were created the year she was born. She wondered if she was somehow sending herself and others through time. She knew it was a crazy idea, but the more she thought about it, the more sense it made. But she still couldn't understand why she had this ability, or why she couldn't control it.
Libby passed by a barker trying to get more people to come in and see a sideshow. Libby froze. A sideshow. Small people, women with beards, men who could swallow swords. There were a lot of people with strange talents like she had--not respectable people, but people. Suddenly she remembered her father's light tricks. Were they tricks? Or maybe he could have had a bizarre talent as well, just as she did? It made Libby sad to think she'd never know if her father really had powers like hers.
But maybe, she thought, if she started her own sideshow--one specifically for freaks of nature, not people who had learned to squirt water through their noses or had gotten tattoos over all their body--maybe she'd find other people like her. She had no idea if it would really work, or if she'd just attract midgets and strongmen. But Libby was a determined young woman, and she immediately started looking for a place to set up shop. It took quite a while to find a building that would hold the type of show she wanted, and just as long to have it fixed up in the way she wanted. Once all that was done, she posted advertisments and posters, even though it was the dead of winter, and even walked around town, and went to parties, handing business cards to anyone who reminded her of her father.

Rebecca was born in a laboratory in the 1990s and the doctor
who looked after her from birth realised that by the time she
grew up her powers would be too powerful for her to control. he
was afraid that the people in charge of the lab would find out
and kill her, declaring her a danger to public safety, and all
he wanted for Rebecca was for her to live an ordinary life without
the misery that her powers had brought her. After years of work,
he discovered a method of creating a form for varient powers where
they wouldn't need a human vessel. It meant altering Rebecca's
DNA and forcing her to suffer great pain but he was sure that
it would be for the best. Unfortunately, the altering of the varient
powers resulted in a powerful explosion which killed both him
and Rebecca. Becky, created, stood in the centre of the destruction,
with all of Rebecca's memories of the doctor and the labs. When
she saw that he was dead, she started to run to him but then she
saw Rebecca's body too and she remembered what the doctor had
said about creating a being out of Rebecca's varient powers. After
realising what she was she disappeared from that timeline and
has never gone back, instead stopping off in places in the past,
looking for somewhere to have fun, or for someone to play with.
Her bad memory is due to the fact that she hasn't got a human
body and because of this she doesn't remember much about the labs,
although the memories do sometimes come back to her when she sees
something to remind her of it all.

Clothing: Dresses simply but expensivly. In winter wears
a heavy, fur-trimmed coat with plain, dark knee-length dress and
boots. In warmer weather, no coat and usually pale blue
dresses. Sometimes wears straw hats.
Accessories: Ornamental hair clasp
Ethnicity: Long family history in Scotland, father english.
Longer physical description: Erin has a basic attractiveness,
but dresses plainly and isn't fussy about her appearence.
Saying that, she will love to dress up for 'occasions'.
She is always grinning and is loving her new life in America.

Powers and talents: In times of great emotional distress to
anybody close to her, she has unavoidable visions as if seeing
through their eyes. The visions are often disturbing and
unclear and greatly distress Erin. (Prehaps, in time, she
could hone this ability to better uses)

Both Erins parents were varients, and were killed in the Piccadilly
Shootings in 1926. Many varients were killed in that year,
with groups rapidly forming against the 'mutants'. This
is when Erin discovered her power, and fled to America to escape
the violence and start a new life. But most importantly
to forget the terrifying visions she saw of her parents death,
which she has now almost completly surpressed.

he doesnt mind, he feels it makes him looked distinguished

or else a white shirt, a waistcoat and trousers. He wears black

man even though he is only 32. He is going bald and what is left
of his hair is grey. He has a firly light frame and has a slight
stoop. His face has a weather beaten look to it, although he is
in fact quite well off as he is an accountent. He is an avarage
height ut looks a little smaller due to his slight stoop, though
he has an air of authority.

Powers and talents:John has the unusual ability of being able
to age objects he touches at a rapid speed. Metal might rust or
wuldmay warp. This also has an affect on plant lfe but does not
seem affect sentient beings, anyway, john was unwilling to experiment
fully in this area as it seemed very cruel. John needs to concentrate
on the thing he is againg and mintaincontact with it. He feels
some sort of force flowing through him ad the object gets slightly
hot as well, it seems to be a side effect

a past) John moved to new york seeking his fortune and his sharp
wits and head for figures soon earned
him a place among the chartered accountants. He me a woman named
Yvonne and they fell in love. They got married when he was 22,
two years after meeting her, but sadly, she died of an unknown
wastin disease 5 years later. John was deeply upset by this tragic
turn of events and though time is a great healer, he still feels
a great sense of loss. He has little contact withis parents as
they are still in Scotland. He lives alone and is feeling very
lonely and discontented, and wnts to make a new start.

Clothing: She wears a plain knee length brown skirt with a

Ethnicity: Parents are from Ireland.
Longer physical description: She has a classic beauty about
her. Her skin is pale and her frame is slender. She doesn't fuss
much over her appearance unless she is on stage and what she wears
is very plain since she doesn't have that much money. Although
since working for Libby her style of dress is more up to date.
Powers and talents: Fireballs

Strengths: Once she's decided she can trust someone, she's

tour with a traveling Theatre group. Then she worked at the Freak
Show. Once in a while she does some shows on the radio but as
of present day she works in Libby's shop.

November 26, 1924 at the age of 15, Maeve and her twin sister Aldez witnessed the murder of their parents. The killer gave chase and they fled from their home. It wasn't far from the docks and with all the commotion they lost the killer in the crowd but he saw enough to know they hid among the crates that eventually were placed on the ship. However, little could be done without rousing suspicion. Next thing they knew they were on a ship ride from hell bound to the Americas. Her sister used her power of ice to protect her from a loud mouth, overbearing sailor who ended up tossing Aldez overboard. Maeve got angry, unexpectedly got her powers to work, and torched the man who then set fire to the sales and the deck.
After her two week boat ride, she spent about two months battling to stay alive on the streets. Between gun fights, men being killed in alley's and the drunks fighting over cardboard boxes, it was enough to drive anyone mad. She had to beg for food, and sometimes she was lucky enough to get some scraps. Then at night there was always the fear of getting your throat slit while you sleep. She had seen it happen enough times.
January 1925 she met Harry. He was the first person to offer any hospitality and he looked like she could trust him. Even if she couldn't, almost anything would be preferable then living on the streets. She stayed with him for so long because she was afraid to be alone again. She wanted to find her sister more than anything but if she left the safety net that was Harry, she was scared of what might happen to her. The thought of ending back up penniless and on the streets terrified her. She was afraid if she didn't give into Harry, he'd toss her out. At least that's how it started out but the older she got and the more Harry taught her, the stronger and more independent she became. One night while pulling of a heist, Maeve ran into a little girl who changed her outlook on her current profession. She left Harry, took what she needed in cash, and went in search of her sister.
On her way to Coney Island she got a little side tracked. Once the money she took from Harry ran out she needed another job. She had a chance meeting with a woman who was trying to get a woman's fashion magazine started. Maeve agreed to model the woman's designs. The magazine didn't make it and she was soon out of a job. The money she had saved from that slowly ran out and she was once again on the verge of being tossed into the streets. The thought panicked her. Then she met up with Ethan, the photographer who took the pictures for the woman's magazine, and he told her about a hot new gig that was coming up. She didn't know until she got to the photo shoot just what kind of a deal it was but once the subject of payment was discussed she couldn't turn it down. A few photos and she could have her apartment back and have enough left over to live comfortably for a while until she found something more suitable. Since she didn't have a place to stay, she ended up at Ethan's until she got paid. And the reason she left that trick behind so fast was because Ethan came home on night just a little too drunk and mistook her for one of his paid guests. She lit him on fire faster than he could form one coherent curse and ran. She figures she killed him. She laid low for a few days, grabbed her paycheck when it came in and left town.
Once in New York City she spotted a sign in front of the local theater that said help wanted. They scoffed at the idea of having a woman stage hand (or whatever you call those people who run around, cleaning and picking up things) but she was able to talk them into it. They liked her spunk. J She spent nine months with them, traveling around from city to city. She picked up quite a lot from the other actresses and a few times she got some roles. She left them when they toured around Coney Island.
Then she met Alex and the rest his history. :D
Well, except the part about Aldez. A few weeks after Maeve's arrival in Kitar, she got wind of a train crash. One that her sister was suppose to be on. Toby's a friend of Becky's brother Dominick who's on the run after
escaping from a lab he was put in as punishment for breaking into
a girlfriend's house. He didn't really do this but when his powers
were revealed to the girlfriend she screamed, waking up her parents
who called the police. This happened when he was sixteen and he
was in the lab for five years before he escaped and was found
by Dominick's friend Fiona. Fiona and Dominick told him that the
best thing he could do was hide outside of their time and Dominick
took him to 1928, giving him money to set up a life there. But
Dominick had the ulterior motive of hoping that Toby's powers
might in some way help Becky he doesn't tell Toby this though,
because Fiona said he would just refuse, but that's why Dominick
chose this particular time and place to send Toby, saying Becky'd
be a good friend for him in the strange time period. Toby's quite
happy to leave behind the problems with variants in his time although
he misses the modern technologies and isn't so good at fitting
in with the older fashioned way of life as Becky is.

Jack was the only son in a family of four. His father often
went out and got drunk, coming home wanting to take out his stresses
on his family and, from the age of 12, Jack tended to rile his
father up in those moments to make sure that he wouldn't go after
his mother or his sisters. He worked hard at the docks from when
he was 14, doing any kind of job that was asked of him there legal
or not in order to bring home money for his family in the hopes
that the extra cash would ease his fathers hatred at his life
and the way it had ended up. It never did though and his father
died when Jack was 20 of alcohol poisoning. After that, without
his father's income, Jack knew that he would have to make a lot
more money to ensure that his mother and sisters wouldn't have
to work themselves to the bone so he joined a group of smugglers
he knew and soon became very proficient at not being caught.
He met a woman named Glory when he was 23 and they had a rather tempestuous relationship. She often told him off for missing dates or not visiting her enough or not paying her enough attention when he became too caught up in his illegal dealings. He loved her temper and strength and could never bring himself to argue with her, rather just standing smiling at her like a love-struck teenager until she calmed down and he promised to do as she asked. He had all of the caring and devotion to her that his father never showed with his mother and he was sure that one day, when he had made enough money for himself, he would marry her. But she insisted that he stop the smuggling, afraid that he would get himself in trouble, so he took up a job behind a bar and managed to avoid smuggling for a whole year, though he soon turned back to it when his family began to struggle again. He kept his bar job for another couple of years to keep Glory happy although he did admit to her that he was back to his usual tricks.
But when he was 27, one of his men sold him out to the police and they raided the docks. Jack tried to shoot his way out so that they couldn't prove he was involved, although he never aimed nor intended to kill anyone, and the only person injured was shot in the leg. He was caught, however, and he was put in jail, though by this time he had made enough money for his family to live comfortably and not have to worry too much about surviving. Four months after his sentencing, Glory came to visit him and, after giving him a good telling off for his stupidity, she told him she was marrying one of his friends and then promptly left. In some ways, he was heartbroken that things hadn't worked out, though he understood her not wanting to spend years waiting for him to be free. It was then that he first set his mind to trying to escape, although it was more to find a way to occupy his mind than due to any idea of going to win her back. He escaped twice while in prison, though he never got very far, and was moved to the prison where he met Donald after the second time.
Since he escaped from that prison to go help Donald to save Maeve from Seth, he now works in the local pub in Marquis and stays in one of their rooms.

of a stroke, on Joshua's birthday. She was much beloved in Saxton,
and everyone was devastated when she died, including her children,
who had to take care of themselves going forward. Soon after,
a mysterious monster came to the forest around Saxton, and many
strange things have happened around town, and occasionally within
its boundaries. Joshua and his siblings don't understand all that's
going on.
Joshua entered the forest on a dare, knowing of the monsters who lived there, who trapped people and drained their energy to feed themselves, killing the victims. He fell into a trap and was rescued by a man who died in the process. Unfortunately, Joshua forgot the man's name, so the tombstone for the man who rescued him remains blank. All they have to go on are a few photographs the man ran back to save--all of which feature a red-haired woman...

Isaac was born and raised in Saxton, and is the eldest of four
siblings (two brothers besides him, and a sister). Their father

to accept charity from the town, and worked with the men in the
fishing boats. In a few years' time he was undoubtedly the equal
of any of the (several) lazy fishermen, and he nearly got paid
as such. Today, he's considered an adult on the water, even occasionally
allowed to help row delivery boats to Gate Town.
But meanwhile, a mysterious monster had come to the forest around Saxton, and many strange things have happened around town, and occasionally within its boundaries. Despite his best efforts, Isaac is left out of most of the town's counsels, and he doesn't quite know what's going on, though he gets the idea that someone in town made a deal with one of the monsters. He'd never admit it, but the monsters scare him pretty badly. When Joshua went missing, Isaac tried to go after him, but was physically restrained by the strongest men in town. Isaac was almost--*almost*--relieved that he didn't have to face the monsters, though he hates himself for that fear. So when Joshua came back safely, Isaac felt a debt towards the man who had saved him--and was struck with the beauty of the woman in the photographs the man had brought with him. Isaac is sure it's his duty to track down this woman and find out the man's name, and tell her what happened, and so he's put on a brave face and determined to leave Saxton by land and find her.

Clarence was born to a farmer and his wife in the chilly town
of Goldenhill, a town whose mine has played out, and the farming
season is cut short almost half the time. His father was caught
in a blizzard and died when Clarence was 8. His sister, Ella,
was born when Clarence was just about to turn 13. The father
was almost certainly a married man the keeper of the only general
store in town, but of course he wouldn't admit it, and when the
child came out furry and green, he didn't even support the family
behind the scenes.
Though Ella was able to see into people's minds, Clarence loved her and spent much of his time raising her. When Clarence turned 16, in 1919, he took his young sister and his mother down to Winesburg, where he and his mother got jobs working at the general store. They did well enough for themselves--much better than in Goldenhill--and after a couple years passed, a position opened up on the town council. Clarence ran for it and took it, and has been involved with politics ever since. He took a job as secretary to the mayor in 1923, and became mayor of the tiny town of Campwarren a year later, taking his family with him. They stayed in Campwarren while he carpetbagged for a few years, sending money home. But when he saw that the town of Marquis was being founded near a dam that would generate electricity, he knew it would become perhaps the biggest town on the island. He moved there early in 1929, and was one of its first residents. In the election held in late 1929, he won handily, and won a bit more narrowly in 1931, after he nearly gave out 45 lashes to 3 people (including two women) who saved the town from a magical influenza. Luckily for Mayor Wagner, the town's radio tower and electricity had made it a tourist destination, and while the mainland and much of Kitar Island were in the depths of the Depression, Marquis's citizens were generally employed and well-fed.
In 1931, a couple months before the election, Clarence and Ella's mother passed away. Ella moved to the orphanage near Marquis, so as not to be a bother to her brother, or to hurt his chances of winning.
Since the last election, Mayor Wagner has expanded the entertainment offerings in Marquis and also hired a healer to take care of anyone who comes to him. As such, Marquis is doing better than ever. The mayor just hopes the electorate will remember this come November, and not hold a grudge against him for freeing a woman who lost control of her powers but did no lasting harm...
