It's an overcast day, the type that threatens to rain, but probably doesn't mean it. Libby was pretty much silent through the whole subway ride to the church, which is on the edge of the city, surrounded by a few multi-story buildings. The church building itself is fairly new and fairly large, the sign of a growing and modern congregation. Libby waits outside the wooden double doors for a bit, looking for a familiar face. After a bit, she glances over at Becky.
"I guess all it takes to make you attend church regularly is for us to have a wedding or a funeral every week, huh?" she asks weakly.

Becky looks up at the dull sky and then says with a wry smile, "I think i'd rather it was a wedding, right enough."
She pulls at the material of her dark dress and then brushes a hand through her hair, as if not sure what she should be doing. She doesn't like wearing dark clothes though they make her look a lot more grown up and serious - although that might just be because of the funeral.

Jasmine presently appears at the church wearing a simple, black dress.
"Hi...."she says very quietly, not knowing what else to say, and stands around rather awkwardly, unsure if she should wait outside or go in.

"Perhaps the others are already inside," Libby murmurs, stooping to smooth the low hem of her rather conservative black dress which she generally reserves for funerals. She adjusts her hat a little. "Although I guess it doesn't matter if you look a mess at a funeral." She slowly walks into the foyer and the church beyond...

Maeve was inside sitting next to her sister in the front row. She sat there staring down at her feet, trying to look everywhere but up at the coffin in front of her.
A few rows behind her an elderly couple sat there crying softly.
On the other side there were two young people that looked to be
in there early twenties, a girl and a boy. About 10 or so more
people were expected, some of them Serena had known from her old
job at the grocery store.

Libby walks forward to Maeve and Ashley, offering her condolances and saying how sorry she is for all of this (and that Daniel sends his love). Donald is there as well, and waits his turn to talk to Maeve, trying to make small talk with the others. He looks rather like an abandoned puppy, although he knew Serena even less than Jasmine or Becky did.
A rather ugly man, tall and thin, with brown hair, small eyes and a long nose, and wearing a black suit, sneaks in as best he can. He sits in one of the back pews, a dazed, rather unhappy, expression on his face, his thin lips drawn tightly together. He doesn't cry.

Maeve nods at each of them and tries to assure Libby that none of this was her fault and that she has nothing to be sorry for. She on the other hand feels the weight of guilt crushing her shoulders.
She forces a small smile and murmers a few hellos before returning her gaze to the floor.

"It's not your fault, either," Libby says softly to Maeve, before going to sit further to the back.
"She's right," Donald says quietly, glancing back at Libby, then looking at Maeve with slightly troubled brown eyes. "There's nothing you could have done differently." If Maeve has opened up to him at all in the past week or so, this isn't the first time he's reassured her like this; he's been over to visit every day since the incident.

Libby sighs, glancing at Jasmine, then at Becky. "Don't talk like that. And if you *were* to die here, we'd certainly give you a funeral, whether you left us a body or not."
Donald sits next to Maeve, looking forward at the casket, his shoulders drooped, which makes him look a lot less capable than he usually does. "If anyone's to blame, it's not you," he says softly. He looks back at Maeve, then slowly puts his fingertips on her hand.

After a bit, Donald looks up at Maeve and whispers. "Her father's here, you know."
"Funerals aren't for the dead. They're for the people they've left," Libby says, sighing. "So they know the person they loved won't be forgotten." She shrugs. "If the dead could come back, though, I wouldn't even come to my own funeral. I wouldn't want to see the people I care about crying, and if they weren't crying, I'd feel a bit insulted."
Michelle and her brother (and maybe other members of her family;
I don't play them ^^; ) come in and sit near the back of the church.

The funeral service finally draws to a close, and some Serena's male friends, and Alex, carry the casket out of the church. The man Donald identified as Serena's father doesn't go to help them. Instead, he gets up and strides over to where Donald and Maeve are standing, and socks Donald in the jaw without saying a word. Donald falls to the ground, a rather surprised expression on his unconscious face.
