YarnKittymon: TY: ::left Marquis about a week
after Donald did, determined to ride his bicycle all around the
island on the very off-chance that Becky might be somewhere. He's
checked all the major towns and most of the small communities
when he comes up towards Redberry, a
small town centered around farmland (as many towns on Kitar Island
are).
YarnKittymon: TY: ::rides more slowly into town,
rather used to the sensation he generally causes when people see
his bicycle for the first time, and prepared to ignore it::
Maeve Owens: LU: ::She emerges from the stables,
hauling a bail of hay out to the few horses they have left. She
has on a pair of capris, smudges of dirt here and there. She has
on a loose fitting shirt with her silver hair pulled back into
a pony tail, making her look much younger than she is:::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::notices Lu, rather surprised
to see an acquaintance, as he's had a lonely month or so; without
thinking, shouts out:: Lu!
Maeve Owens: LU: ::her head snaps in his direction
when he calls out to her, and the bail of hay drops from her hands
as she gives him a charming smile and walks towards him while
trying to brush the dirt off of her clothing:: Toby! What a pleasant
surprise! What brings you all the way out here? ::she comes up
to him, leaning her forearms against the fence that seperates
her property from the road::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::stops riding and looks down
at the road, taking several seconds to figure out what to say;
finally, without looking at Lu:: Just wandering.
Maeve Owens: LU: Oh? I'd say you've wandered
pretty far then. Would you care for a place to rest for a while?
My house is just right over there. ::she points to a two story
tudor with red trimming several yards away:::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::looks back at the house,
frowning, then shakes his head:: I'm more hungry than anything
else. ::glances forward, towards town::
Maeve Owens: LU: ::smiles:: Well, we got food
in there too you know but if you'd prefer restaurant food I know
of a good little diner in town.
YarnKittymon: TY: ::gets off his bike:: I wouldn't
ask you to cook.
Maeve Owens: LU: ::her smile widens:: Well,
lucky for you I'm offering.
YarnKittymon: TY: ::shakes his head, starting
to walk his bike towards town:: Really, I don't want to trouble
you.
Maeve Owens: LU: ::laughs:: You are a difficult
one aren't you? You know I might just be lookin for an excuse
to break free from all this hard labor. Unless of course the rumpled
stagehand :::theres a teasing glint in her eye::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::laughs, though there's a
bit of a hint of nervousness in it:: I don't see why it would
matter...
Maeve Owens: LU: ::smirks, not sure which way
to take that comment:: Well, at any rate I'd enjoy the company.
So suite yourself if you'd rather go eat with *complete* strangers.
YarnKittymon: TY: ::looks back at Lu:: You have
to show me where the diner is, anyway. I'll buy.
Maeve Owens: LU: ::laughs, and nods her head
once:: Okay. You'll have to let me change into something a little
more presentable though.
YarnKittymon: TY: ::nods:: Can I leave my bike
at your place?
Maeve Owens: LU: Sure. ::she pushes away from
the fence and turns towards the house:: Come on up. I'll just
be a minute.
YarnKittymon: TY: ::follows Lu, somehow feeling
a little guilty, though he doesn't say anything::
Maeve Owens: LU: ::she opens the door and walks
through, turning around to wait for him to pass through the doorway::
Make yourself at home. ::gestures to the sitting room off to their
right::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::frowns, pausing at one of
the outside walls:: I'm gonna lock my bike out here, OK?
Maeve Owens: LU: ::nods, still smiling:: Thats
fine.
YarnKittymon: TY: ::leans his bike against the
wall and then forms part of the wall into steel, melding it firmly
to both of the bike's rubber wheels, so as to make it inoperable
to anyone who would bother cutting it free; then goes inside,
wiping his feet on the mat in the
doorway, and into the sitting room, where he stands, looking around
nervously::
Maeve Owens: LU: ::laughs a little at his style
of locking up his bike and shuts the door once he's in. She shakes
her head at his nervous looks:: I'll be right back. ::she heads
towards the staircase, taking the steps two at a time.::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::looks around at the room,
still not particularly at ease::
Maeve Owens: LU: ::she returns fifteen minutes
later wearing a red outfit with a tight fitting top that hugs
her curves in all the right places. Her short curls falling softly
around her face. She's looks pretty confident as she descends
the sta
Maeve Owens: irs and walks towards him:: Ready
to go? ::she smiles warmly at him::
Maeve Owens: ((red casual outfit kind of but
not pants..))
Maeve Owens: ((yeah... bleh. just kind of realized
that the "red outfit" statement might have sounded like
she was over dressed))
YarnKittymon: TY: ::looks her up and down, still
looking rather uncomfortable, though it's pretty clear a part
of him likes it too:: You didn't have to dress up for me.
Maeve Owens: LU: ::smiles slyly at him, noticing
the look he gave her:: Who says I did it for you? ::she stands
closely to his side, taking his arm to escort him out the door::
And you can stop looking so nervous. I'm not going to bite.
YarnKittymon: TY: ::flushes slightly at Lu's
touch, though he doesn't shy away; walks alongside Lu, silently::
Maeve Owens: LU: ::She shuts the door, not bothering
to lock it at all, and heads towards the town:: So where have
you wandered to before you ended up here?
YarnKittymon: TY: The whole island. Spent three
days in Gate Town, two in Marquette...I've been just about everywhere.
Maeve Owens: LU: ::nods:: Wow, you've certainly
been around. See anything exciting on your travels?
YarnKittymon: TY: ::shakes his head, frowning::
Not really. I tried to watch a movie in Gate Town but even though
there was sound it was still pretty bad.
Maeve Owens: LU: Well, you wont find much excitement
around here either. The only thing we have going on tonight is
a local jazz band giving away a free concert out at the park.
YarnKittymon: TY: ::groans slightly:: That's
no good at all. Well, at least eating should be interesting enough.
Maeve Owens: LU: :::She laughs as she leads
him inside a tiny diner::
YarnKittymon: TY: You sure this place is good?
You're not just taking me somewhere to get me sick so you can
take care of me again?
Maeve Owens: LU: ::pouts:: Awe, you've done
and figured out my evil plan. Whatever shall I do? ::grins up
at him:: It looks old and its a little small but Aunt Nellie over
theres the best cook in town. ::she points to a happy little woman
with g
Maeve Owens: raying hair thats having a very
animated conversation with several customers at the bar::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::nods, frowning:: I'll be
right back. ::goes over to the group of people talking, puling
a photograph from his pocket::
Maeve Owens: LU: ::frowns, follwing a few steps
behind him. She sees the picture when he pulls it out for show
and tell, and her lips form a straight line. She looks away for
a moment, tamping down her frustration before plaserting her best
sm
Maeve Owens: ile on her face. She lightly taps
his shoulder and gestures to a corner table:: Best seat in the
house and the place is already filling up. ::which isnt a lie,
theres a pretty good crowd packed into the place::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::just about jumps; he hadn't
thought Lu was following:: Go on and sit down. I'm sure this'll
only take a minute.
Maeve Owens: LU: Alright. ::she smiles again
and turns around and once her back is to him the smile disappears,
replaced by an annoyed pout::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::asks a few of the people
if they've seen Becky, showing them the photograph; the look he
has on his face when he goes to Lu's table shows their answers
clear as words::
Maeve Owens: LU: ::she smiles warmly at him
again as he approaches and leans over the table to get just a
tad closer:: So do you plan on staying the night here?
YarnKittymon: TY: ::softly, sitting down rather
heavily:: Might as well. Are there any nice places to stay here?
Maeve Owens: LU: ::grins:: Well, my mother is
quite known for renting the guestrooms at the house away to strangers
in town. Of course she is out visiting her sister at the moment
and I'm feeling quite generous. You're welcome to stay up at the
house for the night. You wont find anything else around here I'm
afraid. We dont get many toursists.
YarnKittymon: TY: ::frowns; quietly:: Maybe I
shouldn't...
Maeve Owens: LU: ::shrugs:: Its a ways to the
next town and as I said, I'm used to having guests stay up there.
Its no big deal really. It beats an unfamiliar hotel room with
uncomfortable beds. ::her grin widens a little::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::nods, still looking a bit
upset:: I guess.
Maeve Owens: LU: ::smiles:: Well, then thats
all settled.
Maeve Owens: LU: Would you care to go riding
later? We have some beautiful country side, if you like that kind
of thing.
YarnKittymon: TY: ::sullenly:: I'm more comfortable
on a bike, and besides, I've seen enough countryside to last me
at least a couple years.
YarnKittymon: TY: ::when they've finished their
dinner--which consisted of rather delicious food, though Toby,
at least was in no mood to appreciate it:: I'd better buy some
supplies for the trip back.
Maeve Owens: LU: ::nods:: Okay, theres a market
just next door. I take it the trip back means you're returning
home to Marquis?
YarnKittymon: TY: ::nods, frowning:: I don't
even know why I went looking.
Maeve Owens: LU: :::takes his arm again; with
sympathy:: Because you loved her. Its obvious she's moved on Toby
and I'd hate to see you hurt anymore over it. I think its a good
idea for you to move on as well. For your own sanity.
YarnKittymon: TY: ::in a rather subdued voice,
looking vaguely haunted:: She promised she'd come back, though.
Maeve Owens: LU: ::she rubs his arm in a comforting
gesture; softly:: But she hasn't. Its quite unfair of her to expect
you to put your life on hold until she decides she wants to return.
YarnKittymon: TY: ::softly:: But what if she
comes back tomorrow? Then what?
Maeve Owens: LU: Are you going to base the rest
of your life on what ifs?
YarnKittymon: TY: ::looks down; quietly:: You
probably think it's bad that I even miss her.
Maeve Owens: LU: ::shakes her head:: No, not
at all. Its hard to get over someone leaving and its only natural
to miss her. I just would hate to see you wishing your life away,
hoping she'd come back and then be devistated when she didn't.
YarnKittymon: TY: ::looks at Lu for a moment,
silently, then starts towards the grocery store, not attempting
to dislodge Lu's hand::
YarnKittymon: : ::Toby buys about a week's worth
of food, then goes back to Lu's house with her, now seeming more
sad than distressed::
Maeve Owens: LU: So what can we do now to cheer
you up? Would you care for any deserts? :::she flashes him another
one of her charming smiles::
YarnKittymon: TY: I'm not really hungry, and
we just ate.
Maeve Owens: LU: Well then, lets see if I cant
wipe that sad expression off your face. ::she gives him a sly
grin before placing one delicant hand at the nape of his neck
and pulling him up against her. She reaches up, practically on
her tiptoes to press her lips against his::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::puts an arm around her and
kisses back for several seconds before gently pushing her away,
frowning deeply:: Don't.
Maeve Owens: LU: ::she doesn't seem to take
no for an answer and reaches for him again:: Let it go Toby. Stop
thinking about what if and just feel. ::she deepens the kiss even
more, trying to draw him further into her spell::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::kisses back again, softly
touching her face and enjoying the feel; softly:: We can't...
Maeve Owens: LU: :::whispering against his lips::
Yes
YarnKittymon: TY: ::hadn't realized how much
he'd missed having a woman next to him, feeling like he was loved,
feeling so close to someone, and he finally completely abandons
himself to Lu, without another word of argument::
