YarnKittymon: LB: ::comes back into her shop at about 11 in the morning, having just arrived in from Gate Town with Jack an hour before; she's wearing a new dress she bought on the mainland, and is holding a fair sized stack of letters in one hand, and she smiles to look around at her familiar shop:: Still standing, inside and out, I see.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she is a little on edge, even though she really has nothing to worry about but she's a little paranoid with the thought that some corner of the store still has the smell of smoke and Libby's going to find it; she smiles widely when she sees Libby. She abondones the desk and comes over to greet her:: Yep, still standing. ::quickly:: So? How was your trip?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::is leaning against the counter, talking to Maeve while she works; she has a flower in her hair since Toby's given her so many of them she thought she might as well do something with them;smiles when she sees Libby:: Yeah, did you have fun?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::grins:: It was marvelous. I won't bore you with the details; I'm sure I'll be doing plenty of that later. Did anything happen here while I was gone? I suppose my mother got off safely?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::smiling:: Nope, not a thing happened. And yes... your mother did get off safely... ::her tone suggests theres more to the story but she hesitates to dump it on her so soon::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::hesitates:: Well...me and Toby kinda got back together...
YarnKittymon: LB: ::looks a little surprised:: Oh? Congratulations, then. ::though she doesn't sound all that enthusiastic:: Are you sure it's OK?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::smiles weakly, thinking that the response is at least better than Daniel's:: It's fine, really
YarnKittymon: LB: ::frowns; softly:: I want you to be happy, Becky, but I don't want to see you hurt again.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::murmurs:: Well Toby doesn't either
YarnKittymon: LB: ::sighs slightly:: I hope you're right. ::does manage a bit of a smile:: But really, I'm happy you're happy, Becky, and I hope it works.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she's standing there quietly listening, not bothering to comment since anything she usually says causes problems. Although both Becky and Toby most likely already know that Maeve is happy for them::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::smiles, although it's rather weak and she looks down:: Thanks
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smiles, setting her mail down on the counter:: Thank you again for running the shop while I was gone, Maeve. I really appreciate it.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::glances at Maeve, wondering which of them should bring up Libby's mum before someone in town tells her::
Maeve Owens: MV: You're welcome. ::she hands Libby back her keys; half joking:: Thanks for trusting me. ::she catches Becky's look and smiles uneasily::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smiles weakly at Maeve:: Is everything all right? ::jokingly flips through her mail:: Don't tell me you've rung up new charges on my accounts; I don't need any more bills...::pauses, coming across a letter from her mother, sent from Marquis::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::softly:: Um, yeah, about your mum...
YarnKittymon: LB: ::puts the letter down without opening it, looking at Becky::
Quantum Catz: BM: Uh...well...she left Fox for one thing...
YarnKittymon: LB: ::looks much more startled than when Becky had announced she and Toby were back together:: *Really*?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods; not knowing what to say::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::pulls out a letter opener and slices open the letter from her mother:: Well, *that's* a bit of good news, I suppose, provided she's not asking me to support her, at any rate.
Quantum Catz: BM: Well i think maybe Fox was messing with her head...i...heard she tried to kill herself in a restaurant ::glances at Maeve again::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::the hint of a smile instantly drops from her face, and she stares at Maeve and Becky with wide eyes::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::winces:: Fox has that kind of effect on people...
YarnKittymon: LB: ::instantly pulls the letter out of the envelope and reads it over twice, looking more than a little upset::
YarnKittymon: : ::it reads:

June 17, 1932

Dear Elizabeth,

You'll be pleased to know Fox and I are separating. I couldn't take his abuse or his nightmares anymore. I haven't slept since your wedding. Today he forced me to wear an evening gown and parade down the street, then called me a prostitute, and put me into a nightmare. Blessed Mary; you can imagine what I dreamt of. Fox has promised to pay for my passage and separate residence in New York, and I'm leaving town as soon as I finish this letter.

Libby, don't tell anyone, but I'm frightened. I just want to get away from him, and even if he never gives me another red cent and I have to live in a poorhouse, I'll be happier away from him.

He's promised to take care of Denny.

You were right. I never should have married him. I'm sorry for what I said about Jack. I'm sure he's not so bad, although I daresay Fox was kind at the start. But judging from Jack's mother and his sisters, perhaps he's a good man. See that he takes good care of you, and may you be happy no matter how poor you become.

Love,

Mother

YarnKittymon: LB: ::finally sets the letter down, staring blankly at it::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::softly:: Libby? Are you okay?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::weakly:: She as much as apologized...I don't think she's ever done that before...she must be so upset...
Maeve Owens: MV: ::nods; quietly:: If you need to go see her... I'll watch the shop again for you. ::looking a little concerned for Libby::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::softly:: I could take you if you want...
YarnKittymon: LB: ::nods, whispering:: Do you really think she tried it? She would've been sure she was going to hell for it...
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she winces, looking away::
Quantum Catz: BM: Well...i wasn't there but...that's what they said...Fox stopped her though apparently
YarnKittymon: LB: ::nods numbly:: I'll need to...to tell Jack where I'm going...::slowly picks up the letter and heads out of the shop; softly:: I'll be back in a few minutes.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::weakly:: Okay...
YarnKittymon: LB: ::goes off to find Jack, wherever he said he'd be::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::is at the bar, talking to oneof his workmates::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::goes behind the bar, looking rather upset; softly:: Jack...
Quantum Catz: JK: ::looks up and comes over to her, putting his hand on her arm:: Libby, what's wrong?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::leans against Jack's chest; softly:: They're saying my mother tried to take her own life...
Quantum Catz: JK: ::is a bit surprised at that from what he's seen of her:: Is she alright?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::nods, putting an arm around Jack, her voice shaking:: I think so...Becky's going to take me to see...
Quantum Catz: JK: Okay...
YarnKittymon: LB: ::rather quickly:: It wasn't because of us...it was Fox. She said...::quickly shakes her head::...well...between the nightmares and...::tears come to her eyes:: I'd just thought--I'd made myself believe--he just put her in a pleasant dream during our wedding...
Quantum Catz: JK: ::tightens his grip on Libby slightly:: Is she still with him?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::shakes her head again:: She left him...she's so...so in love with money...things must have been awful...
Quantum Catz: JK: ::jokes:: Don't suppose he's still about, is he? ::although there's a serious look in his eyes::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::looks back at Jack, wiping her eyes; softly:: I doubt it. ::cringes:: And if he is...you know what he could do to you...
Quantum Catz: JK: ::shrugs:: Maybe the magic shield'd ward that off too. People shouldn't be allowed to get away with things like that
YarnKittymon: LB: ::hugs Jack again for nearly a minute, then, softly:: She apologized for thinking so little of you, in the letter.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::smiles slightly:: That's something i guess
YarnKittymon: LB: ::nods, folding the letter and putting it into her purse; a little unsteadily:: I promised Becky I'd be right back. I just wanted you to know where I was off to. I don't...unless she's really bad off, I don't imagine I'll be gone that long.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::nods:: You going to be okay?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::nods again, rather shakily:: I'll have Becky there; don't worry about me.
Quantum Catz: JK: Okay ::is still a bit surprised at the sudden news::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::looks at Jack a moment more, then goes back to her shop, looking around suspiciously at anyone she walks by on the way having a conversation, as though she's convinced they're speaking ill of herself or her mother::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::is still waiting for Libby at the shop::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::comes back inside, looking apologetically at the both of them:: I'm sorry to be a bother...
Quantum Catz: BM: ::smiles:: Don't be silly
YarnKittymon: LB: ::exhales slowly:: Well, to go to all this trouble for a woman neither of you are fond of...
Maeve Owens: MV: ::smiles:: Yes but we're fond of you so thats all that matters.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smiles weakly back at Maeve:: Thank you. ::looks back at Becky::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::glances at Maeve:: Could you let Toby and Dan know where i am if you see them?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::nods:: Sure.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::reaches for Libby:: Ready?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::takes Becky's hand; softly:: Yes.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::has to teleport to Gate Town and then go through the gate before she can teleport Libby further but they soon make it to appear whereever Libby's mother is in New York::
YarnKittymon: GT: ::is just exiting a railway station, looking exhausted; her clothes are mussed, and she's carrying her own luggage, with quite a bit of difficulty; she stares at Becky and Libby when they appear::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::nearly starts crying when she sees her mother, and just hugs her, hard::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::stands back, rather uncertainly::
YarnKittymon: GT: ::sounding a bit angry:: What are you doing here? You have no right to be here.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::murmurs:: I just wanted to be sure you were all right.
YarnKittymon: GT: ::angrily:: Of course I'm all right! What kind of a person do you think I am?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly:: Back in Marquis...they said you'd...
YarnKittymon: GT: ::interrupting:: And that's none of their business. ::strains to pick up her suitcase again:: Good day, Elizabeth.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::rolls her eyes ever so sloghtly at Greta's response though she tries to hide it::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::grabs the suitcase from her mother's hands; firmly:: At least let me carry this for you, Mother.
YarnKittymon: GT: ::reluctantly lets her take the suitcase, though she still looks rather angry:: I told you, Elizabeth. Go home to your husband.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly:: How much money do you have? I'd looked into places...before. Perhaps I can help you find one.
YarnKittymon: GT: ::less strongly, looking at the busy street in front of her:: Just leave me.
YarnKittymon: LB: I can't, Mother. Not until I'm sure...::shudders::....I'm sure you're all right. Come; we've the money to take the bus, anyway. ::walks over to the bus line::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::follows behind::
YarnKittymon: GT: ::follows the both of them, rather sullenly::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly:: We'll head towards Brooklyn, then...::doesn't mention that that's where Jack and his family live, never mind that the borough's so large the odds of Libby's mother ever meeting with them are miniscule::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::glances at Libby, remembering herself that that's where Jack's from, although she doesn't say anything::
YarnKittymon: GT: ::looks incredibly unhappy::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::slowly:: Unless you have some friends who could help you out, perhaps.
YarnKittymon: GT: ::doesn't bother to reply::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::sighs, finding a seat on the bus; softly:: I know it's *different,* Mother...but you'll grow accustomed to it in time. ::cringes heavily; softly:: Or if you wanted to move back to Kitar Island; then at least you wouldn't
YarnKittymon: be alone.
YarnKittymon: GT: ::shakes her head quickly:: I wouldn't like that at all, Elizabeth.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::tries to hide her relief:: All right. ::takes her mother's hand and squeezes it; softly:: We'll find a place for you, all right? I promise.
YarnKittymon: GT: ::nods, though she doesn't seem to believe it::
