YarnKittymon: : ::shortly after church, Toby comes over to Becky's house, not wearing a suit jacket, as though he hasn't attended, though she wouldn't know if he has or not; he knocks on the door::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::answers the door, an uncertain look on her face::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::looks at Becky, a rather strange look on his face, as if he's not sure what to feel; softly:: You remember...yesterday I said Lu was probably sick in bed?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::frowns, looking rather uncertain:: Yeah...
YarnKittymon: TY: ::rather suddenly grabs Becky's hand, looking down at it, not at her face:: I was right...really right...she died.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::pulls her hand away:: What?
YarnKittymon: TY: ::very softly, still not looking up:: She went to her mother's and she caught pneumonia and died. I saw the death certificate.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::backs a step away, looking uncertain:: Why...? How....?
YarnKittymon: TY: ::glances up at Becky for just a moment, a strange look of desperation in his face:: Her talent was not getting sick...without that, she just got sick...::with a tone nearing misery:: I don't know if there's anything I could've done.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::hesitates for a moment, looking upset:: But you were with me...
YarnKittymon: TY: ::looking down again:: They didn't send anyone to get me. They didn't even invite me to the funeral. She's already buried. I guess they didn't want my help.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::softly:: Or they didn't think you'd give it...
YarnKittymon: TY: ::cringes heavily, then, quickly, looking back up at Becky:: Anyway, I know...I know we can't just pretend like none of this ever happened. But I thought you should know.
Quantum Catz: BM: :: looks down for a minute, uncertain about looking Toby in the eye and then asks, quietly:: How did you feel when you found out? I'd like to know - and you know i can tell when you lie
YarnKittymon: TY: ::not looking at Becky, though he's also not lying:: Like I'd been hit in the face with a brick.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::softly:: You really did care about her, didn't you?
YarnKittymon: TY: ::looks at Becky doubtfully, and softly says:: Somewhere inside...I guess I did. I'm sorry, Becky.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::laughs weakly:: What for? Ever since i came back here i've just been wishing that it could've been that you'd gone off and married someone you loved...
YarnKittymon: TY: ::looks at Becky, rather startled; after a long pause:: Then...I guess it's OK with you if I...go to...you know, see her...
Quantum Catz: BM: ::for a moment she doesn't reply and then she murmurs:: What is it to do with me anyway? She was your wife
YarnKittymon: TY: ::looks back at Becky, taking a deep breath:: Because you've always been the one I loved the most.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::looks up at Toby, a tired expression in her face:: But she was the one you married
YarnKittymon: TY: ::turns away:: And everything she ever told me was a lie.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::closes her eyes:: What do you want from me? Permission? I don't have any hold over you
YarnKittymon: TY: ::swallows hard:: I just wanted you to know where I was going...and what happened. ::pauses:: And yeah, I have this selfish wish that somehow you'll say something to make everything all right. That's wrong of me, I know.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::opens her eyes and looks at him, sadness there:: How do you expect me to do that when i'm the one who left in the first place?
YarnKittymon: TY: ::exhales slowly, turning to look back at Becky:: Becky, I'm the one who did something wrong. I know you can't forgive me overnight...I'm just hoping someday you might.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::murmurs:: I wish i could make it right. I never wanted her dead - i never wanted anything like that.... I wish i could make it easier for you...but i can't
YarnKittymon: TY: ::after a moment, steps closer to Becky, looking at her, softly, putting his arms out for a moment; quietly:: I understand if you say no, but...can I maybe hold you for a second? To know you're still here?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::rubs her hands over her eyes, to wipe away tears; weakly:: You know i'm still here
YarnKittymon: TY: ::looks at Becky a moment longer, then lightly touches her arm for a moment:: I'll be back in a couple days.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::looks up at him, tearfully:: I really didn't wish this...
YarnKittymon: TY: ::softly:: Please don't cry, Becky...I know you didn't. I didn't either...it just happened.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::shakes her head, pushing her hair away from her face and probably completely messing it up:: I can't believe she was sitting there dying...while...while....
YarnKittymon: TY: ::softly:: While you were sick, just about dying. ::draws closer to Becky again:: It's not your fault, Becky, you know that. My fault, and I don't know if I can forgive Lu for it, but it wasn't you.
Quantum Catz: BM: But if you hadn't been with me... ::takes a step back from him::
YarnKittymon: TY: And if she hadn't lied to me...or if she hadn't left town...or if that stupid lawyer had come and told me...::pauses:: I don't know what I would've done, Becky. I'll never know. But I didn't even have the chance..
Quantum Catz: BM: ::suddenly moves forward and hugs him, tightly:: I am sorry - i really really am....
YarnKittymon: TY: ::puts his arms around Becky, and tears fall from his face onto Becky's shoulder; he doesn't speak::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::quietly:: Sometimes i so wish i hadn't left...not for me...but just so i wouldn't have to see you like this...
YarnKittymon: TY: ::shakes his head slightly; softly:: Somehow it'll work out...I have to believe that...
Quantum Catz: BM: ::runs his hand through his hair:: The world doesn't always work like that...if it did you wouldn't even be here
YarnKittymon: TY: ::closes his eyes, just leaning against Becky:: Is there anything I can do to make you happier?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::hesitates and then says, softly:: As harsh as it sounds...your the the one with the dead wife...i don't see how i really come into it at the moment
YarnKittymon: TY: ::gently pushes back from Becky; softly:: I guess...I'd better go.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::looks at him, a bit regretful:: I'm sorry - i shouldn't have said that...
YarnKittymon: TY: ::softly:: I'll see you in a couple days, OK?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::sighs:: Yeah...
YarnKittymon: TY: ::quickly:: Look, dead wife or not...she's *dead.* I guess that's how I can be more worried about *you*. Because unless she's looking down at me from the clouds--or maybe reborn as an ant or something--she doesn't care whether I come and tell her goodbye.
Quantum Catz: BM: :smiles weakly:: But you obviously care or you wouldn't be going
YarnKittymon: TY: ::shrugs, trying to look like he doesn't care, though he still sounds upset:: Would've been nice to talk to her again while she was alive. I'll see you later, Becky.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::her forehead creases in worry:: Are...are you okay? I...i know i'm not really the best person to be saying this...but maybe you shouldn't go alone...why don't you take Maeve or...Isaac with you?
YarnKittymon: TY: ::shakes his head:: Isaac and I shouldn't be away from the town at the same time anyway, in case someone comes in hurt. I could use the time alone. ::smiles just slightly, though it doesn't look true:: I'll be all right.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::uncertainly:: Are you sure?
YarnKittymon: TY: ::nods:: I'm taking my bike; it's just a few hours' ride. If I get too upset I'll come home. I promise.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::not looking at him:: Okay...
YarnKittymon: TY: ::nods once, turning to go:: See you later.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::looking down:: Bye...
